Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist with maintenance, repair, and operating efficiency of tools and equipment used in production as well as maintaining the plant facilities. This includes routine servicing and preventive maintenance, in addition to prompt response in case of breakdowns. Additional duties may be assigned by the Plant Manager as necessary to facilitate plant objectives.
Responsibilities:
· Promptly assist in repair of equipment breakdowns which affect production.
Assist in Set up and maintain schedule of servicing and preventive maintenance on all production equipment, tools, and facilities.
· Must be able to read and interpret basic maintenance information such as manuals, service bulletins, and instructions.
· Must be able to correctly determine replacement part numbers from parts diagrams and generate a requisition for purchasing.
· Must be able to perform service and minor repairs on hand tools (air drills, saws, etc.)
· Capable of assisting in routine maintenance on air system such as installation and servicing of oilers, water traps and filters, installation of lines and fittings, and monitoring system for proper operation.
· Help make recommendations that operators are performing necessary cleaning and care of equipment.
· Assist in maintaining an inventory of replacement parts necessary for the prompt repair of critical production equipment, and a monthly accounting of parts usage.
· Assist in set-up and maintaining a file of information on each piece of equipment or tool which will reflect serial number, location, date placed in service, repair history, and final disposition.
· Monitor production areas for defective tools and equipment, including safety hazards such as defective power cords and missing components.
· Should be able to recognize unsafe conditions involving tools and equipment and perform corrective action in most situations.
· Help contain costs by repairing tools instead of replacement; avoid waste and excess inventory.
· Assist Plant Manager and Safety Team in enforcing safety compliance.
· Is available to assist in other maintenance or non-maintenance areas as determined by the Plant Manager or tooling supervisor.
· Work as a primary job set up person initially to get a better understanding of how the machine setups and changeovers are done.
· Certification requirements on Lock Out Tag Out program as well as demonstrating the ability to go through each step of our LOTO programs for each machine.
· Available to assist in relief work during breaks when necessary.
· Open to working Overtime when necessary.
Education, Experience, Skills:
· A High School Diploma or GED is helpful.
· Possess a thorough mechanical aptitude and extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems utilized within this facility.
· A functional knowledge of vacuum forming is desired.
· Experience in welding of all types and basic machine shop skills.
· Must have the ability to be able to operate or learn to operate a forklift.
· Must have a valid driver's license and be able to be insured for company vehicle driving.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
