Job Description:

The Custodian/Maintenance Lead is an essential role in helping to create an environment where each student, parent and staff feels welcomed at the Art & Science Academy.

Custodian/Maintenance staff report to the building Principal primarily, Executive Director secondarily.

Duties are as follows, but not limited to;

Common Duties:

· Custodial Duties (65% of role)

o Daily cleaning of areas around the school including: offices/classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, and surrounding areas.

o Cleanup and sanitization of lunch areas after lunch periods daily.

o Ensuring supplies are stocked in bathrooms.

o Moving furniture to assist staff where needed.

o Cleanup/minor repairs to classrooms during school breaks including floor waxing/touchups.

· Maintenance (25% of role)

o Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks including: wall patching/painting, door/lock repairs, clearing minor blockages, filter replacements, etc.

o Ability to perform basic carpentry tasks including: shelf/whiteboard mounting, basic framing/sheeting skills, etc.

o Ability to perform basic electrical and/or plumbing tasks including: maintaining water fountains, diagnosing electrical/plumbing issues that may need outside technicians, basic sink/toilet repairs.

· Grounds Maintenance (10% of role)

o In winter, ensuring walkways are clear of snow/ice.

o Some weed control and occasional grounds maintenance including mowing touchups.

o Ensuring grounds are kept clean and presentable.

Requirements:

Minimum of a H.S. diploma.

At least 1 year of custodial/maintenance experience or similar work experience with needed skillsets.

Able to pass background check, US citizen or legal resident, legal US driver, and capable of discretion/confidentiality.

A willingness to learn multiple systems, self-starter, energetic, and looking for an active environment.

Preferred Requirements:

Minimum of a cert/technical degree with focus in HVAC, Carpentry/Electrical/Plumbing, Buildings/Grounds Maintenance, or similar.

Specific experience ( 3 years) with school cleaning/maintenance.

An interest in working in a charter school environment with an arts/science focus.

This is a full time 12-month position with salary and benefits. Salary range dependent on qualifications presented. Position will remain open until filled.
