Arthrex is actively searching for a Manager, Research for the Orthobiologics Engineering team at our corporate office in Naples, FL They will be responsible for leading the research team in the achievement of company goals including experimental design, verification, purchasing, inventory control, scheduling, and personnel. The ideal candidate will have five or more years of relevant industry experience along with supervisory experience and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferably Biomedical Engineering. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages the Orthobiologics research and work activities to provide timely and efficient flow of services and projects.
Maintains a leading edge understanding of the Orthobiologics industry, customers, and competitors in order to find new and novel opportunities for development and product improvement.
Hires, develops, and retains the best talent for the engineering team and the organization. Actively provides coaching and career development assistance to team members. Develops future leaders by effective selection and development activities
Assesses new technology and new product ideas for technical feasibility.
Evaluates and develops improved techniques for the control of product development activities.
Develops and oversees the development of budgets and timelines for new research projects.
Leads multifunctional new product project teams through feasibility, initiation, planning, execution,
Provides Regulatory department technical support for projects as needed.
Supports Marketing and Product Management with technical information to be used for training and marketing of assigned products.
Supports surgeon and distributor customers by training and/or educating on technical aspects of assigned products as needed.
Determines necessity of testing and initiates testing of assigned products
Maintains inventory of products and associated lab items. Track’s usage, forecasts and orders supplies as needed to support Orthobiologics Research laboratory activities.
Is knowledgeable about Arthrex products and surgical techniques, including actively learning about new products and developments.
Report’s progress and status of projects on a timely basis with emphasis on reporting results to the Sr. Manager of Engineering and Research.
Up to 10% travel
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required
Masters or PhD preferred
5 years of relevant experience required
2 years of supervisory experience required
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training
Proficiency in human and vet biologic systems
Working knowledge of joint anatomy.
Technical knowledge in development research methodologies and study design.
State of the art knowledge of orthopedic surgery principles, theories, and products.
Proficiency in assessing the value of new product ideas based on biologic outcomes.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
Complete blood count analysis, Flow Cytometry, ELISA, cell culture
