Role Description : IT Specialist (Part-Time - starting at 15-20 hours a week)

Asap IT is currently seeking a skilled Part-Time IT Specialist to join our team. Asap IT provides a wide range of technological and IT services to small and medium-sized businesses. The IT Specialist will play a crucial role in delivering IT support to our clients, both remotely and on-site, as well as assisting with various in-house projects from our office location.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to clients, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, network connectivity problems, and system errors.
  •  Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components, such as computers, printers, servers, operating systems, and applications.
  •  Assist with the setup and configuration of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor system performance, security, and backups to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Collaborate with team members and external vendors to resolve complex technical issues and implement solutions.
  • Document technical processes, procedures, and configurations to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity of operations.
  • Conduct technology assessments and recommend upgrades or enhancements to improve efficiency, reliability, and security.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on the proper use of technology resources and applications.
  • Assist with the procurement of IT equipment and software licenses, including researching options, obtaining quotes, and placing orders.
  • Adhere to industry best practices, standards, and compliance requirements in all aspects of IT service delivery.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • 2 years of experience in IT support or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of mainstream operating systems (Windows & macOS), productivity software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace), and networking concepts.
  • Experience with hardware troubleshooting, configuration, and repair.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, services, and security mechanisms.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to addressing client needs.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-site visits and travel to our Arlington Heights / Buffalo Grove office.


Work Schedule:

  • Part-time position with approximately 20 hours per week, with a path to Full-time.
  • Flexible scheduling of work hours, provided that Asap IT's requirements are met. Primarily weekdays with occasional evenings or weekends for special projects or client emergencies.
