POSITION OVERVIEW
The SXEW Manager is responsible for safety, environmental compliance, production, costs, quality, people and projects in the SXEW Department, which includes the leaching operations.

POSITION OVERVIEW

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide safety leadership and responsibility in the SXEW and leach operations department.
- Know, understand and enforce all applicable local, state and federal health and safety regulations.
- Ensure environmental compliance in the SXEW Department.
- Know, understand and enforce all applicable local, state and federal environmental regulations.
- Forecast, meet and maintain copper cathode production targets at Ray leaching operations.
- Forecast, meet and maintain operating costs for the SXEW Department.
- Responsible for all aspects of quality, including cathode quality, internal and external customer satisfaction, quality processes/procedures, quality equipment/tools and quality people.
- Direct and support the activities of direct reports.
- Develop/train/educate employees for future growth and promotion.
- Work in partnership with the Mine and Engineering Departments to optimize safety, environmental compliance, production, costs, and quality in order to make Ray successful.
- Work in partnership with the Union to ensure effective and efficient plant operation.
- Work in partnership with all other ASARCO Departments/Units to maximize Company performance.
- Serve as Project Manager for large capital projects.
- Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles .
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must have excellent technical knowledge of copper leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning processes.
- Must understand the current health and safety regulatory requirements and demonstrate the highest commitment to employee health and safety.
- Must understand the current regulatory requirements and demonstrate the highest commitment to environmental compliance.
- Must be able to perform mass balances on the leaching-SX-EW systems and understand the production capabilities of these three processes.
- Must be capable of developing and managing cost and production forecasts.
- Must understand economic evaluation and investment decision methods.
- Must have ISO 9000 experience, SPC and/or other quality control/quality assurance training.
- Must have effective Project Management skills.
- Must have valid driver's license.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Requires eight (8) years of Leaching - SXEW experience or equivalent.
- Must have at least five (5) years supervisory experience.
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or a related field.
