Positions Open:
Site Name: Ray Mine
Site Location: Kearny, US-AZ, 85237
The Laborer SXEW participates in the cathode harvest process performing multiple essential functions including Forklift Operator, Bar Puller, Scaler/Bander, Loader, Commercial Utility, and Commercial Utility Nightshift. May rotate into any or all essential functions and must perform all duties and physical/mental requirements of each essential function.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Forklift Operator tasks include:
- Inspect and complete pre-op of forklift and work area.
- Operates forklift to transport calibration block to scale.
- Picks up cathode bundle from the hopper and assists in bar pulling task.
- Transports bundle to the wall to straighten bundle, to scale to assist Scaler/Bander in assuring weight load is within minimum and maximum weight limits, and bundled load to the outdoor staging area.
- Picks up empty racks and transports to “A” side
- Transports two sample cathodes to power washer station and power washes cathode samples.
- Transports cathode samples to press table and assists material handler with positioning cathode samples onto press table.
Bar Puller tasks include:
- Coordinates with Crane operator in dropping cathode loads into hopper.
- Operates hopper to straighten load.
- Removes bars from cathode loops and places bars in rack.
- Scaler/Bander tasks include:
- Places scale ticket on cathode loop, records weight and amount of harvest.
- Bundles cathodes by staging metal bands around bundle and secures band using banding machine.
- Weighs bundle and ensures load is within minimum and maximum weight limits by adding and subtracting cathodes as needed.
Loader tasks include:
- Performs pre-op inspection of forklift.
- Ensures that tractor/trailer is properly chocked.
- Inspect bundles to ensure they are clean and bands are tight
- Operates forklift to load cathode bundles onto the truck bed.
- Maintains communication with the truck driver to determine the placement of bundles on the flatbed.
- Notifies shipping when the truck will be driven to scales, if overweight redistribute the load.
Commercial Utility tasks include:
- Assists the Crane operator in lowering cathodes into cells, while ensuring correct spacing of lead bars and bumpers.
- Replaces missing starter sheets with sheets from the rack.
- Assists Forklift Operator in placing lead into cells.
- Assists the Crane operator in lowering starter sheets into the press.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts. The ability to apply concepts of basic algebra is helpful.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination
- Each employee will take prime responsibility for ensuring that s/he works within all required safety procedures and processes.
- Candidates must possess a current and valid driver's license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT
- Heavy lifting 50 – 100 lbs.
- Ability to climb on and off forklifts and commercial cells
- Hot in the summer, cold and windy in the winter
- Position is an active one, requiring extensive walking, standing, crouching, reaching
