The unique location of the program allows for limitless opportunities for students to excel in their equine related education at Asbury, and to gain practical experience on the many local farms and businesses. The Equine program allows for students to pursue their interests, whether in Equine Studies, Equine Assisted Services, or Equine Science (Pre-Veterinary program)

The Director of the Equine Center provides innovative leadership, effective communication, and efficient management of resources (materials, facilities, budgets, horses, and personnel).

Job Purpose
The Director of the Equine Center provides innovative leadership, effective communication, and efficient management of resources (materials, facilities, budgets, horses, and personnel).
Essential Functions
- Cultivate a Christ-centered vision and management culture for the equine center.
- Provide leadership and supervision for the equine staff.
- Administrate the tasks, marketing, and budget of a fully functioning equine center.
- Build working relationships with equine industry professionals and network with other academic institutions to promote evidence-based equine management practices.
- Facilitate public relations of the equine center.
- Serve as the point of contact for mounted police units in search of police service mounts.
- Implement fiscally responsible best management practices for the equine center.
- Implement organizational best management practices that optimize workflow, communication, and internal collaborations among equine staff and faculty
- Support and implement program revisions, changes, and additions that cultivate healthy program development and growth.
- Manage the acquisition and sales of horses.
- Provide student-oriented leadership that invites open communication with Asbury Equine students and effectively manages discussed concerns and/or criticisms.
- Teach 3-6 credits per semester. Provide academic advising for students as required.
Required:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Equine Science, or a related field
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in equine education, equine industry, and/or farm management
- Experience with budgeting, farm administration, acquisition, and sales of horses
- Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, DVM)
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in equine education, equine industry and/or farm management
