Position: Student Network Assistant – Student Worker Position in the IT Services Network Team
The Student Network Assistant will work in close proximity to the IT Services Network Team staff to maintain and support the campus network and will report to the Network Manager.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Inventory and transport equipment across campus, including new purchases
- Support the wired infrastructure across campus, especially in the dorms

- Support the wireless infrastructure across campus, especially in the dorms

- Deploy new equipment (i.e. wireless network equipment, cameras, desk phones, etc.)
- In coordination with an ITS Network Team Staff member assist and/or lead the installation of
- Assist Network Team Staff Member with configuration and testing of newly deployed
- Provide any how-to instruction to Faculty or Staff member regarding usage of new equipment
- Schedule in-room/ in-office appointments as required
- Troubleshoot various network connected devices, and occasionally using specialized equipment for

- Track all work in IT Services ticket tracking system or within proper IT Services documentation
- Other duties as assigned by the Network Manager

- Eagerness and ability to learn new tasks quickly
- Basic knowledge of computer networking is preferred
- Intermediate skills with computer systems, various networked devices, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Solid troubleshooting skills
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to co-lift up to 75 pounds and spend several hours working on your feet
- A minimum of 10 hours per week during traditional undergraduate Spring and Fall terms
- 20 to 40 hours per week during the Summer term (40 hours required for Summer Housing option)
