Director of Finance

Ascend Ministries has an opening for a full-time Director of Finance at our Rehrersburg location.

Ascend Ministries Rehrersburg campus offers a Christian, adult, long-term, residential program in addition to detox and short term state-licensed programming for individuals struggling with chemical addiction.

Job Overview:

The Director of Finance will lead all day-to-day financial operations and supervise the finance team including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and donor restricted funds. They will ensure that Ascend and all connected organizations have the systems, policies and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct clean audits. The Director protects Ascend’s assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. As a leadership role, this person serves as a Christian mentor to staff in the department and organization as a whole.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- include the following. Other duties may be assigned

• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
• Manage and oversee the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
• Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants if any;
• Coordinate cash flow efforts with Medical Billing Department to ensure the collection of all receivables, minimize exposure to bad debt, and compliance with required policies, regulations and service agreements.

Competencies/Requirements

1. Comfort and commitment to Ascend’s Christian mission of helping those in need and spreading the gospel message. Ability to pray for others when requested and lead team prayers when needed.

2. Ability to oversee all aspects of budget development, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and patient billing and general ledger activities.

3. Ability to provide reporting to government entities. (such as cost reporting for Medicaid etc.)

4. Competency in all areas of finance including: AP,AR, payroll, grant funding, budgeting and cash flow oversight.

5. Ability to clearly explain complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.

Keen analytical, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting

Education- Associates Degree in Accounting, 6 years experience in field, or Bachelors Degree in relevant field and 4 years or more experience. Additional experience may be substituted for educational mandates. Non-profit experience a must.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
