What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician position at Ascend Vision Partners?
A Full-Time energetic and reliable individual to join our team as an Ophthalmic Technician.
The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering important patient medical history; perform visual screening and diagnostic testing prior to doctor's visit with patient. The technician will ensure that exam rooms are cleaned between patients, including sanitizing equipment. Assist and facilitate smooth patient flow, along with working with Doctors to coordinate the patient flow.
Prerequisites:
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
- Minimum six months past experience in the ophthalmic/medical field with patient interaction • Computer Skills; Typing, Word Responsibilities
- Captures ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity
- Performs essential diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, manual refraction, topography, basic manual lensometry (single vision, multifocal, and progressive lenses), pachymetry, tonometry, OCT, IOL Master, and Humphrey visual field
- Administer topical ophthalmic medication or oral medications under the direction of the Physician
- Administers diagnostic tests
- Assist with in-office procedures ensuring proper informed consent is obtained, set up and clean up room from procedures
- Assists with patient education • Instructs the patient regarding testing procedures
- Maintains cleanliness and keeps equipment in order within the exam rooms during the workday
- May assist in providing training to other ophthalmic personnel, as assigned
- May function as a scribe for the ophthalmologist
- May assist with laser and ophthalmic procedures
- Perform other tasks as required Performance Requirements
