Ascension Medical Group in Indianapolis is recruiting for a full time staff Perfusionist to join our team of 12 experienced full time Perfusionists. We are looking for a motivated Perfusionist willing to work as an integral member of our team. Our surgeons are exceptionally skilled and great to work with. What You Will Do
Operates extra-corporeal circulation equipment during procedure requiring artificial support or the temporary replacement of circulatory or respiratory functions.
- Prepare for procedure by performing patient assessment.
- Perform perfusion and other procedure including the monitoring of the patient's anticoagulation, electrolyte, acid-base and blood-gas status throughout procedures and takes appropriate action to resolve imbalances.
- Perform assembly, maintenance, cleaning and calibration of equipment and maintains adequate supplies.
- Provide proper documentation of assessments, activities, and procedures.
The qualified candidate will perform clinical cardiopulmonary bypass during a variety of cardiac surgery procedures for adult cases. Procedures include; CABG, valve, minimally invasive mitral and aortic valve repair/replacement, heart transplant, VAD, ECMO, etc. This position is full-time with shared rotating on-call responsibilities and shared clinical accountability.
Bachelor's degree in addition to graduation from an accredited cardiopulmonary perfusion training program required. The position requires the candidate be board certified or certification eligible by the American Board of Cardiopulmonary Perfusion. Board certification must be obtained within 18 months from hire date.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Certified Perfusionist credentialed from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
