Responsibilities

Ascension Seton is looking for an APRN or PA, Pediatric Intensivist, to join our elite team!

 

The Advanced Practice Practitioner works interdependently with and independently within the health care team.    The Advanced Practice Practitioner in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, with the collaboration of PICU Physicians, manages patients in this high-acuity specialized setting.  The role of the Advanced Practice Provider in the Critical Care setting is essential in the delivery of patient care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Accordingly, the Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider schedule includes a variable shift commitment with a rotation of nights/holidays/weekends.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
  • Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
  • Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
  • Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy 

Requirements

Nurse Practitioner

Required Credential(s):

  • Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing

Preferred Credential(s):

  • Acute Care Certification - strongly preferred 
  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration

Education:

  • Master's degree of Nursing required

Physician Assistant

Required Credential(s):

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90days) of hire date or job transfer date
  • Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Texas Medical Board
  • Certified Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of PhysicianAssistants (NCCPA)

Preferred Credential(s):

  • Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA)

Education:

  • Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Master's degree preferred

Work Experience for both APRN and PA:

  • 2 plus years of experience in the field of pediatric critical care - as an APP - is strongly preferred
