Responsibilities

Monitor and assist with maintenance of the hospital departmental Charge Master to ensure coding of new and existing charge codes are within applicable coding and reimbursement regulations.

  • Analyze the coverage guidelines for billable services to reduce or prevent future claim denials.
  • Organize the bundling or unbundling of charges so that all charges submitted result in maximum reimbursement.
  • Assist the billing personnel in resolving third party and other billing problems.
  • Communicate information to all applicable departments.
  • Assist with establishing, maintaining and periodically auditing charge code RVU's for applicable decision support systems.
  • Conduct periodic and ongoing comprehensive reviews, audits, and refinements of new and existing changes to the Charge Master in order to ensure compliance with organizational policy requirements and proper charging.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
    degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

Work Experience:

  • 2 years of experience, preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years of Ambulatory Risk Adjustment and HCC coding experience (strongly preferred)
  • CPC (optional), CRC credentialed by AHIMA and/or AAPC (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with Epic and/or Athena EHR
