What You Will Do
Ascension Saint Thomas is looking for a PRN CV Surgery APP for our Ascension Saint Thomas Heart West Hospital.
Position Highlights:
- PRN schedule
- Mainly inpatient support with occasional opportunities for outpatient clinic coverage for vacations/PTO
- Cardiac/ICU or Cardiac Surgery experience highly preferred
- Hospital Inpatient experience with Cardiac is ideal
Job Roles/Responsibilities for Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery
- Manage inpatient hospital list for assigned physicians.Participate and collaborate in daily rounds with physician.
- Perform daily visits on patients, with physician collaboration, enter all orders for test,
labs, medicines and procedures; dictate daily consult notes on in-house patients with
physician collaboration. - Assist physician with admissions and transfers from clinic, ER, and referring physician’s
offices and hospitals. - Obtain and dictate H & Ps and consult notes with physician collaboration.
- Coordinate complex discharge planning with case management and multidisciplinary
team members. Including: arranging home IV antibiotics, home inotropic support, Life
Vest, Home Health, Physical Therapy, Home Oxygen, and follow up labs. - Facilitate discharge process including: prescriptions follow up appointments, teaching, &
discharge summaries within 24 to 48 hours. - Request consults and communicate plans from consultants.
- Schedule procedures and tests in-house and in the clinic environment.
- Follow up and manage daily plan of care including: assessing change in conditions,
monitoring labs, review test results, and communicating updates to physician and
multidisciplinary team members. - General rounding advanced practitioner duties when physician is on call, as needed.
- Cover call with physician on call, every fifth weekend and weeknights until 7pm,
Monday through Friday. - Assist with clinic consultations and follow up appointments; enter orders for all labs,
procedures, tests and dictate encounters in Athena, with physician collaboration
nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy
Job Requirements
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Required Credential(s):
• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or current home statelicense for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
• Master's degree of Nursing required.
