Section 1: Position Summary
The Senior Network Engineer will support the Ascensus data network infrastructure environments. This role will ensure the maximum performance of a high traffic network infrastructure while maintaining system integrity. The Senior Network Engineer will handle networks to include Cisco routers and switches, F5 load balancers and Cisco firewalls. The role requires in-depth knowledge of networks with a focus on high-level design and planning and knows how to collaborate on large-scale projects but can also complete assigned tasks on their own.
Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

- Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned
- Administer the global data and VoIP network infrastructure, including Cisco Routers, Firewalls, Switches and Load Balancers
- Design, test, build, secure, and maintain an advanced data and voice network
- Produce well-designed, well-documented, and highly-available networks
- Troubleshoot voice and network issues on a routine basis
- Design public and/or private networks including LAN/MAN/WAN (local/metropolitan/wide area networks)
- Design work includes placement and specification of servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems
- Influences best practices within discipline
- Analyze business requirements to develop communications systems
- Develop technology roadmaps
- Develop test plans, implementation plans and project timeframes for various projects
- Stay abreast of how technology infrastructures are currently impacting and driving competitors
- Solve complex problems with many variables
- Analysis of business requirements to develop technical network solutions and their framework
- Mentoring and training of junior network engineers
- Write functional requirements/specifications documents
- Thorough understanding of MPLS and other WAN services and technologies including SIP and advanced routing
- Analyze the existing voice and data networks and recommend solutions based on requirements
- Support end user issue resolution
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure availability of environment 24x7
- Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned

Section 3:? Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements
- Must have advanced skills and experience with most of the following:
- Strong IP / Routing Fundamentals: BGP, EIGRP, etc.
- WAN Technologies: VPN, QOS, MPLS, VoIP
- Strong Layer2/Ethernet Fundamentals: VLANs, Trunking, Spanning-Tree, Port-Channels
- Redundant connectivity and infrastructure
- Experience with F5? strongly desired
- Expertise in Cisco ASA platforms
- Experience with business continuity, high availability and disaster recovery
- Minimum of 3 years related experience in network voice and call center environments
- Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Good team player, willing to share knowledge with the team
- Highly effective communicator (written & verbal)
- Cisco Certifications required (CCNP ? R&S, DC etc.)
