Role and Responsibilities
The Safety & Quality Coordinator is responsible for monitoring the work conditions at Ashland Conveyor Products (ACP) to ensure that all activity is compliant with state, federal safety regulations and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems. The Safety/Quality Coordinator will be involved with enforcing company health and safety guidelines, inspecting inventory, workspaces, and conducting safety training with employees. Responsible for initiating action to prevent product or service nonconformity.
Additional responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,
- Collaborate with Safety Manager on oversight of ACP’s safety program to ensure we meet or exceed OSHA safety standards and continuously improve employee safety
- Present daily, monthly, and quarterly departmental safety and housekeeping reviews and ensure resolution of non-compliance findings, report to Safety Manager findings
- Document and implement safety rules and procedures with collaboration from Safety Manager
- Collaborate with Safety Manager to implement and maintain a first responder team & safety committee
- Oversight of safety/quality training for all employees with collaboration from Safety/Quality Manager(s)
- Investigate workplace injuries that occur onsite and identify possible causes of accident
- Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies such as fire and insurance personal
- Responsible for storm water procedure (quarterly)
- Responsible for initiating action to prevent product or service nonconformity, identify or record quality problems and forward to management
- Perform quality control activities such as, but not limited to; gauge verifications, process monitoring, raw and in process material review, disposition of non-confirming product and promoting quality awareness
- Collaborate with Quality Manager to maintain established quality management system
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Safety experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience reading blueprints
- Ability to use draftsight
- Experience using monitoring and measuring devices (i.e calipers, tape measure, indicators)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and managers
- A work history of compliance to safety, quality, and productivity standards
- Detail oriented approach to daily work activities
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Able to work well in a team-oriented work environment
Preferred Skills
- At least 1 - 2 years’ safety experience in a manufacturing environment
- Quality Management Systems training (e.g., ISO 9000, QS 9000)
- Understanding of federal, state, and city safety requirements, including OSHA
- Certificate in health and safety
