Position Description:
Ashland Public Schools is seeking a dynamic registered or licensed practical nurse to provide 1:1 nurse for a grade two student at Warren Elementary School. Nursing functions may include: positioning, suctioning, administration of BiPAP, g-tube feeding, medication administration, and assessment of overall health and lung function. Additionally, non-medical support for the student may include assisting with transfers from wheelchair to seating or standing systems, and special education accommodations such as positioning towards direction of instruction, assistance with the use of an assistive technology device, classroom tools or adaptive equipment. Additional support/medical needs may arise outside of description expectations which would be the responsibility of the substitute nursing staff to assist with. This is an as-needed position, reporting to the Director of Student services and School Principal.
Requirements:
The candidate must be licensed as a registered nurse or practical nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, possess a current CPR certification, and have experience working with children with significant medical needs. The candidate must be able to:
Respond to students’ health needs- Communicate with parents, faculty and medical providers as needed
- Adhere to the Nurse Practice Act, the guidelines of care established by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH), and work in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Ashland Public Schools.
- Implement or follow the student’s individualized health care plans as developed by staff school nurses
Salary : $58,600 - $74,200
