What are the responsibilities and job description for the QC Supervisor position at Ashland?
Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Supervisor to join our Ashland Specialty Ingredients business at our Assonet, MA facility. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Quality function. This position will report to the Quality Systems Manager.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Implement the Quality Management System, including Good Manufacturing Practices for production of ingredients for regulated end uses
- Supervise the Quality laboratory staff, including scheduling
- Provide customer support and communication on customer quality complaints or inquiries
- Initiate out-of-spec investigations where appropriate
- Lead root cause investigations into any deviations
- Track Quality KPIs and develop continuous improvement plans
- Ensure control charts and process capability data is up to date and take action as needed
- Provide support to production through performing or participating in root cause investigations, and by pulling and trending historical data
- Participates in or leads Quality Risk Assessments
- Conduct internal audits and support global and external audits for ISO 9001:2015, EFfCI, and customers
- Participating in process improvements
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or another technical field.
- Knowledgeable in quality assurance systems, quality control procedures, chemical plant processes, good manufacturing practices, and ISO 9001.
- Must be proficient in MS Office Suite, with strong written and oral communication skills and ability read, interpret, and report data.
- 3-5 years experience in a quality role
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment or quality laboratory
- Experience supervising hourly employees
- Experience with Quality Risk Management and Management of Change processes
- Experience in leading and organizing internal ISO 9001 audits
- Experience with SAP and LIMS or equivalent data management systems
