Summary
ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Security Manager at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. NRG Park is in the fast lane for opportunity and excitement. We are a one-of-a-kind premier facility with four major venues within one giant park. NRG Center (one million sq. ft. Convention Center), NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome (“The” Astrodome), and NRG Arena. We are seeking a unique Security Manager to join our Security team. Under general supervision of the Director of Safety & Security, the Security Manager oversees and supervises all security efforts as they relate to the facility and surrounding grounds. Also coordinates and supervises specific event-related security on an as needed basis. Supervises security staff, contracts, and security systems. Acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients’ requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following:
- Plan, organize and direct various personnel and activities necessary to establish a safe and efficient environment.
- Develop and coordinate training programs for ASM Global employees, to increase awareness of security issues, policies, and procedures.
- Schedule security personnel for day-to-day operations and special events. Continue to adjust and update work schedules to reflect cost efficiency and building activity.
- Oversee 24-hour contract security personnel.
- Assist with security budget development and spending throughout the year.
- Purchase/Order security related goods and services and approve of invoices for payment.
- Prepare payroll, maintain records, and compile reports for management on a periodic basis.
- Review and operate surveillance cameras.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Post Orders, Daily Reports and other guidelines for the department and NRG Park.
- Develop and implement facility security plans.
- Develop, maintain, and implement the facility Emergency Response Plan.
- Train all applicable facility personnel on the Emergency Response Plan.
- Participate tabletop exercises semi-annually or as otherwise requested.
- Conduct fire drills as required by local fire ordinance.
- Manage the electronic and facility hard key system.
- Operate facility related equipment including but not limited to electronic gates, wedge barricade, access readers, etc.
- Investigate all security-related incidents.
- Review, approve, and follow-up on written reports and make recommendations as necessary.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all first responders to include law enforcement, security and/or safety related organizations (federal, state, county, and municipal).
- Conduct or facilitate cyber, event, and facility related risk, threat, and vulnerability assessments.
- Interpret and apply Federal, State, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
- Handle complaints, disturbances or related problems with the public, staff, or clients.
- Investigate, report, and provide follow-up on incidents including damage or injury to the facility or individuals.
- Cover security post as schedule allows.
- Gain control over unusual circumstances caused by weather related threats and other emergencies.
- Facilitate the property’s preparation, response, and recovery for severe weather. This includes monitoring, alerting, and activating resources in the event of a weather emergency.
- Train security personnel and other applicable personnel in protective procedures, first aid, fire safety and other emergency procedures.
- Manage, maintain, and monitor the facility security systems which includes but is not limited to the guard tour, visitor tracking, access control, emergency call box, and surveillance systems.
- Responsible for supervising the distribution of NRG Park employee identification badges and daily parking hangtags.
- Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Report all incidents out of the ordinary to your supervisor.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and three (3) to five (5) years security related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of two years of supervisory experience required.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of principles and techniques of planning, implementing, and supervising a facility security force. Possess knowledge of security issues related to a major sports and entertainment venue.
- Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment.
Computer Skills
- Operate a personal computer using Windows, Mac, Adobe, Word, Excel, and other standard office equipment.
- Familiar with access control and video management software.
Other Qualifications
- Possess any appropriate licenses as required by the State.
- Minimum certification in NIMS, ICS 100/200, 300/400, & 700/800.
- Be eligible for a temporary “secret” clearance level with DHS or FBI.
- Become a member of Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN) and Infraguard within six months of employment.
- Remain certified in CPR and other emergency/life saving techniques.
