The Role
The Senior Sustainability Advisor plays a key role within the ASOS Fashion with Integrity (FWI) programme. They drive forward progress within the Be Net Zero pillar of the FWI strategy, with a focus on operational sustainability and reporting. They support FWI leadership in driving forwards the ASOS ESG, Net Zero and CSR strategy, influencing and driving change across the business in collaboration with a range of stakeholders. They track and understand ASOS’ carbon footprint, identify and deliver carbon saving initiatives and ensure wider ESG performance is effectively communicated internally and externally. They form a crucial part of the Net Zero Delivery Group and collaborate with key departments including Supply Chain, Space, Procurement, Commercial ESG and Corporate Affairs to deliver effective environmental management and reporting.
The Team
The Corporate Responsibility team is a key team driving forward’s the ASOS Fashion with Integrity strategy. The team deliver against a diverse number of workstreams including Net Zero programme management, ESG reporting and benchmarking, external Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and charitable partnerships and giving, including the ASOS Foundation. The team sit within the Governance function and operate cross-functionally to deliver a successful ESG & CSR strategy for ASOS.
You will be…
- Leading the ASOS approach to energy and waste management at all major operational sites including all offices and international fulfilment centres
- Working closely with external energy procurement and management partners to understand energy & carbon consumption, report performance to relevant teams and identify and deliver energy saving programmes and initiatives
- Liaising with Delivery Solutions team and carrier partners to measure and understand carbon emissions associated with ASOS deliveries and returns. Regularly engaging with logistics partners, freight forwarders and carriers on their sustainability and emissions reductions initiatives, partnering on projects and programmes where relevant
- Understanding and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and requirements such as ESOS
- Managing the annual ASOS scope 1, 2 & 3 carbon footprint development, working closely with key ASOS teams and consultants to deliver this project and taking ownership of many GHG reporting categories directly
- Liaising with other key FWI teams, such as Commercial ESG, to coordinate the management of carbon emissions across the business and project management strategic cross-functional projects, such as for product take-back / donation schemes
- Co-delivering the company’s external ESG corporate reporting/ benchmarking (e.g., CDP, TCFD), manging the annual external data assurance process with PwC and using experience to improve communications on ESG performance and the reputation of ASOS with investors
- Taking a leading role in external corporate reporting including the ASOS annual report and FWI progress update report, updating the ASOS plc corporate website and developing investor briefings on operational sustainability
- Leading on other strategic projects such as delivering dedicated reporting requirements (via investors & industry bodies) or such as creating green-finance partnerships
- Working with Marketing and Corporate Communications teams to communicate progress and case studies on operational sustainability via platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter
- Understanding ASOS’s requirements for carbon emission reporting and disclosure and contributing towards adherence to these requirements

- Substantial experience of working in a similar sustainability role in a fast-paced environment, or in a consultancy role advising e-commerce, retail, or logistics clients
- Able to speak knowledgeably, accurately and with confidence on current environmental matters
- Good communicator – must be able to speak convincingly to a range of audiences (expert/non-expert), to be able to engage people’s hearts and minds and also make a business case for new initiatives
- Ability to manage projects across global operations with a variety of stakeholders from different functions
- A good influencer with skills in advising and coaching others
- Experience in managing ESG benchmarks and reporting projects such as TCFD
