Housekeeping Responsibilities include:

  • Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for Residents
  • Monitors inventory of chemicals, supplies and equipment needed for laundry and housekeeping tasks
  • Communicates chemical, supply and equipment needs to supervisor.
  • Maintains required records; notifies the supervisor or Maintenance Director of observed maintenance issues and/or repairs
    needed.
  • Familiarizes self with cleaning schedules of Residents’ apartments and common areas to assure completion of housekeeping tasks
    • Sweep, mop and vacuum all assigned areas including, but not limited to resident apartments, restrooms, utility rooms, common
      areas, nursing station, medication rooms (under nursing supervision) and dining room and kitchen areas of resident apartments 
      Clean countertops in restrooms and kitchen areas of residents’ apartments 
      Defrost refrigerators in resident apartments on a regular basis 
      Dust all furniture, baseboards, window blinds and around entryway, as well as keep ceiling free of cobwebs 
      Remove bed linens (excluding bedspreads, quilts, etc.), launder, and replace with fresh linens. Bed linens should be washed, dried, folded and returned to the resident’s apartment 
      Remove and dispose of all waste and trash according to proper sanitation requirements 
      Report observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects, and malfunctioning to the maintenance department by completing a work order 
      Assist in serving meals, drinks, setting up food for serving, maintaining a clean work area and washing dishes as needed 
      Sanitize, set and bus tables 
      Adherence to safety and sanitation standards 
      Use and store equipment and supplies effectively, efficiently and safely 
      Refill all soap and towel dispensers 
      Practice daily universal precautions and other posted special precautions in resident environment 
      Assist with blood spill clean-up in conjunction with Licensed Nurse directions 
      Maintain confidentiality and ensure resident rights are maintained at all times, reporting suspected deviations to management immediately 
      Maintain material safety data sheets (MSDS) 
      Performs other housekeeping tasks, as assigned. 
      Provides laundry services as needed and/or directed.
  • Observes problems, concerns, and issues observed with Resident units, the community, and the grounds and communicates them appropriately
  • Observes changes in Resident status, needs, or preferences and communicates them appropriately
  • Observes changes in Resident status, needs or preferences and communicates them appropriately. 
    Observes other problems and communicates them appropriately. 
    Adheres to all established policies and procedures. 
    Records Resident information as required. 
    Avoids loss, breakage and waste of supplies and equipment. 
    Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work, safety and other
    emergencies. 
    Adheres to OSHA requirements 
    Observes all work, safety and administrative policy training in performing all job assignments. 
    Attends in-service training as required. 
    Reports all suspicions of abuse, neglect and/or financial exploitations of a Resident immediately to the supervisor, as described in the Company’s policy and procedures on reporting.
  • Skill/ knowledge requirements:
    • Working knowledge of equipment, supplies and chemicals used for housekeeping and laundry tasks. Experience in working in a licensed care setting preferred. 
      Maintains acceptable attendance record/follows work schedule. 
      Organizes and utilizes time appropriately toward accomplishing assigned tasks; requires minimal supervision. 
      Displays cleanliness, good grooming, and personal appearance and follows dress requirements. 
      Displays ability/willingness to learn new skills and to teach others. 
      Ability to recognize and communicate problems appropriately. 
      Ability to relate to the public, Residents, families, Community Team Members and other professionals appropriately. 
      Ability/willingness to follow policy and procedures and state regulations. 
      Ability to communicate proficiently in English, verbally and in writing. 
      Ability to work flexible hours to meet requirements of the job. 
      Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations. 
      Is neat, accurate, and dependable and keeps workspace clean. 
      Displays willingness to assist co-works when situation requires. 
      Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary. 
      Demonstrates team player with a positive attitude; able to work with Community Team Members and Regional Company staff. 
      Ability to maintain accurate records and provide information as requested and required.
    • Physical Requirements:
       Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; 35 pounds regularly. 
      Routinely requires pushing, pulling, bending, walking, reaching and stooping.
