The role

Partners with internal clients to gain an enhanced understanding of business functions and informational needs. Leads all phases of project development. Our Aspen Values are expected to be reflected in the delivery and performance of every role.

Key accountabilities

  • Strategy and Planning
  • Contributes to functional strategy development and prioritises the operational deliverables and activities of team to support delivery of overall business targets.
  • Manages tactical plan and provides support to others to achieve positive results for the business in line with strategy. Policy, Process and Procedures
  • Using agile methodology values, principles, and practices to plan, manage, and deliver solutions.
  • Training, mentoring, and supporting scrum teams to follow agile values, principles, and practices.
  • Determining and managing tasks, issues, risks, and action items.
  • Scheduling and facilitating scrum events, meetings, and decision-making processes.
  • Monitoring progress and performance and helping teams to make improvements.
  • Partner with key stakeholders (i.e. Product Owner and Team Lead) in backlog prioritization as well as tracking and reporting metrics, providing visibility to the team and stakeholders, ensuring a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve team-level Agile performance; focus the team on customer value, quality and continuous improvement activities. Remove team-level impediments and resolve conflicts; anticipate challenges, identify risks, and recommend mitigations and solutions. Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus
  • Delivers a cost-effective IT service to contribute to Aspen’s profitability and business performance.
  • Participate in both large- and small-scale projects for the design, transition, and operational activities associated with the delivery of new or existing IT services to the user community.
  • Build trusting, productive, and sustainable relationships and partnerships with customers to allow IT to deliver maximum value in the services offered across the IT service portfolio.
  • Maintains regular contact with the business and cross functional IT teams to promote, support, and monitor progress and ensure clarity for new and existing services.
  • Develops and foster a service- orientated culture within the IT team to deliver and optimize service offerings and implement initiatives to drive consistent service delivery.
  • Comply with external and internal regulatory and statutory policies, procedures, and regulations. Technical Performance
  • Ensure hardware/software meets the needs of the business.
  • Create and monitor the tactical plan to manage the delivery of the IT strategy and monitor performance to ensure relevant business plan targets achieved.
  • Deliver exception reporting in compliance with criteria.
  • Provide quality advice and informed decision making.
  • Deliver accurate and timely internal reporting that satisfy senior management requirements.
  • Works with key stakeholders/business managers to develop sustainable IT systems and services, monitoring progress to achieve business strategy/plans.

Skills & experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a relevant field preferred.
  • Excellent people and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of underlying needs of the business and how own role contributes to these.
  • Business and financial awareness of the impact of Service Levels and any associated failures
  • Able to manage conflicting priorities to achieve deadlines.
  • Able to plan effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong customer orientation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • People management – ability to engage and lead a team.
  • Proficient in relevant software, including MS Office applications e.g., Excel as well as other departmental software packages. Microsoft certification preferred (MCSA, MCSE)
  • Resource and budget management
  • Experience within Insurance industry preferred.
  • 3 years of experience as a scrum master or in a similar role.
  • Certified scrum master, SAFe preferred.
  • Working knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks, such as Scrum or Kanban, to deliver solutions.
