Responsibilities
- Performs duties as assigned by the Utilities Chief Engineer
- Ensures continuous operation of all the facility Utility Systems and peripheral equipment to support the requirements of production.
- Coordinates and manages both internal and external maintenance of the facility
- Will aid in the development and maintenance of all environmental programs required for plant operation from local, state, and federal agencies
- Maintains and improves the proficiency of the operators in the service and operation of the utility systems through training
- Maintains, or oversees the periodic testing of boiler water and cooling tower chemistry. Works with water treatment supplier to assure proper operation of the equipment, as well as maintains safe operating levels of the necessary chemicals for the water treatment
- Manages and coordinates both in-house and contracted services and PM's for all utility systems
- Assist in the organization, tracking and managment of spare parts inventory.
- Over-sees the daily activities of the utilities operators to ensure completion of all daily activities, to maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
- Ensures proper operator coverage throughout utilities systems.
- May travel to various locations to purchase parts, attend training, or for other duties
- Assist with Capital and Expense projects as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Utilities Chief Engineer
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance software preferred.
- Knowledge of equipment setup, functions, operating procedures, and preventative maintenance techniques. Basic knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrial utility systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of best practices in maintenance and safety management.
- Knowledge of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation processes/procedures and hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP).
- Knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements as related to plant and utilities systems' operations, safety and environmental agencies.
- Knowledge of best available energy management practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including the ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment
- Experience working in a maintenance department, preferably in an automated food processing plant.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, operating manuals and maintenance instructions to complete machine rebuilds and repairs. Ability to complete forms detailing maintenance work performed.
