Aspirus Wausau Podiatry in Wausau, WI is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team!
The Medical Assistant assists in the delivery of primary healthcare of patients including maintenance of clinical record/documentation. Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for medical staff. The position requires the ability to make decisions consistent with clinic policies and the strict observance of confidentiality of patient information.
Greets, registers, and directs patients in a professional manner. Efficiently schedules patient appointments according to established parameters as defined by office policy and procedure. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining complete and accurate registration records. Responsible for answering all clinic calls, providing routine information to callers and transferring calls to appropriate individual in a courteous and professional manner.
HOURS: Full Time or 1.0 FTE, 80 hours every 2 weeks. Day shift, variable days M-F, no weekends or holidays.
Experience/Qualifications
- Knowledge of patient care standards and practices normally acquired through graduation from an accredited MA program or five years’ equivalence in medical assistant experience.
- Previous experience beneficial.
- Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire (for 30071).
- Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Medical Assistant Certification or Registration desired (for 30069).
- Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining records and responding to correspondence.
- Skill in developing and maintaining relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapts, and applies guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to maintain teamwork effectively with co-workers.
- Annual competencies as required by Aspirus and/or various regulatory agencies based on entity and/or job position.
