We are seeking a PARAMEDIC in Portage, WI at Aspirus Divine Savior to work in our MedEvac department and join our team!
Under the direction and supervision of the Manager - MedEvac, this position is responsible for providing safe, comprehensive care to critically ill and/or injured patients of all ages. Care is provided in the pre-hospital setting and during inter-facility transports by understanding and applying the specialized principles and techniques of transport paramedic practice, emergency procedures and diagnostics.
Experience/Qualifications
- Knowledge of emergency patient care standards and practices normally acquired through completion of an accredited Paramedic program.
- Required - Minimum of 1 year (3 years preferred) current field experience in a busy 911/pre-hospital service for ground critical care transport and intercepts.
- Minimum 3 years’ current field experience in a busy 911/pre-hospital service for flight. Flight or transport experience preferred.
- Active Wisconsin Paramedic license.
- Active Paramedic license/certification in the State of Wisconsin and Michigan or will obtain dual license within 120 days of hire
- Current BLS certification - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED. (See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Policy).
- ACLS certification - American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Course including a hands-on skills practice session with an AHA ACLS instructor or by using a voice assisted manikin (VAM) system.
- State of Wisconsin Critical Care Endorsement recommended within one year of hire or upon course availability and to transition into Critical Care Paramedic role.
- Possesses a valid Driver’s license in the State of residency.
- Current Paramedic National Registry licensure preferred.
- Certified Emergency Vehicle Operations (CEVO) or Emergency Vehicle Operating Certification (EVOC) or training.
- Competencies specific to MedEvac must be completed upon hire and annually.
- Must maintain CPR and all certifications as stated in the MedEvac Scope of Service.
Hours: This position is Full Time; 1.0 FTE or 80 hours per pay period. 12/24 hour shift rotation.

Aspirus MedEvac medical transportation service provides 24-hour emergency air and ground medical transport for critically ill and injured individuals of North Central Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. We are dedicated to providing the highest standard of care and safety to our patients. Aspirus MedEvac also operates critical care ground transfer ambulances from Wisconsin ground bases in Weston, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids, Medford, Crandon and Upper Michigan bases in Watersmeet, Ontonagon and Crystal Falls. In addition to the Critical care Ground Transports, Aspirus MedEvac also provides 911 coverage for Iron County MI and Watersmeet MI. The ground units are staffed with Critical Care Paramedics, Registered Nurses and EMTs. MedEvac air is staffed with a pilot, a Flight Nurse and a Flight Paramedic and is capable of transporting one patient.
