What are the responsibilities and job description for the PSI Cashier KOD position at ASRC Careers?
A Cashier is responsible for providing great customer service; processing sales quickly, accurately and efficiently, perform cash register operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
1. Operate cash registers when receiving payment for cash, credit/debit cards or other; issue receipts, and process change/refunds/credits.
2. Count money in cash drawer at the beginning/end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and has adequate change.
3. Maintain clean and orderly check out areas/windows and other general cleaning duties such as sweeping/mopping floors, emptying trash cans; including the storage area and the parking lot area.
4. Stock shelves with merchandise, and mark prices on shelves and items; including supply or storage area.
5. Assist/ensure that customers receive outstanding service by providing friendly environment which includes greeting customers, maintaining outstanding standards, and providing solid product knowledge.
6. Operate/monitor gas pump dispensers; including dispensing propane safely.
7. Service, clean and supply public restrooms; refill towel dispenser & soap dispensers.
8. Gather and empty trash; clean & scrub trash cans and replace with liners.
9. Refill the outside washing dispensers with towels and cleaning agents as necessary.
10. Mow and edge the lawn during the summer; during the winter, shovel snow or use a snow blower to clear walkways, driveways, and parking lots; spread salt in those areas.
11. Refill propane tanks and check pressure gauges using proper safety precautions.
12. Assist with fueling tanks of vehicles with gasoline or diesel fuel as requested.
13. Check motor oil levels and other fluids as requested by customers; may include cleaning windshields.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience/Requirements:
1. Cash register experience preferred; on the job training provided.
2. Customer service experience.
3. Basic math and English knowledge.
4. Public safety and security.
5. Operate Point of Sales (POS) software, magnetic card readers or bar code reader equipment, and including small (hand) power tools, mower, edger, snow blower, and cleaning equipment.
Applicants must:
a. Be 21 years of age to sell alcohol and tobacco according to State of Alaska Alcohol and Tobacco Laws.
b. Successfully complete the “TAM” (Techniques of Alcohol Management) 3 hour training.
c. Successfully complete the “We Card”: A program to help prevent underage tobacco sales training.
d. Successfully complete propane training.
e. Valid Driver’s License is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
