JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibilities for this position are to provide field support to the workforce for occupational safety and health issues such as hazard identification, evaluation and mitigation, application of company safe work practices and PPE selection and to provide HSE training. Other responsibilities for this position are to ensure safety and emergency response equipment is in readiness condition and implementation of the HSE training program. Some travel required (10%). The ideal candidate is a team oriented, customer service focused individual willing and able to assist company site leadership, support production staff, and contractors to complete all scope of work safely.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
1. Conduct periodic facility inspections.
2. Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments as necessary.
3. Write and update safe work practices/procedures as assigned.
4. Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) as requested.
5. Conduct management of change reviews for potential impact to health and safety and required PSI updates.
6. Conduct and/or participate in incident investigations as requested.
7. Provide technical assistance to the workforce in solving health and safety exposure and compliance issues.
8. Evaluate and identify adequate PPE for both routine and special activities.
9. Assist PSI & subisidary sites in selecting and maintaining an adequate PPE inventory.
10. Assist in maintaining facility emergency action and pre-fire plans.
11. Assist Sites in development of Emergency Response Equipment inventories and audit equipment availability and readiness.
12. Assist in the development of Job Roles and Training Curriculums in the corporate LMS related to health, safety and emergency response.
13. Review, update and provide health, safety and emergency response training.
14. Maintain health and safety files as necessary.
15. Maintain all mobile air monitoring equipment and provide user training.
16. Provide field support and expertise to the workforce in the areas of safe work practices.
17. Provide contractor site safety training as well as oversight and support for safety related issues while working at our facilities.
18. Provide HSE support for other Petro Star facilities as requested.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1. High School Diploma.
2. Valid Alaska Driver’s License.
3. Current OHST, CHST or similar credentials or ability to acquire within one year.
4. Minimum five years’ experience in the field of occupational health and safety or industrial emergency response required.
5. Minimum five years’ experience in the development, implementation and delivery of professional training required.
6. Demonstrated proficiency in the current version of Microsoft Office and good technical writing skills.
7. Working knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations and industry standards such as American Petroleum Institute (API) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
8. Significant continuing education in occupational health and safety, fire prevention and protection.
9. Training on Hazardous materials and spill response.
10. Experience in conducting job safety analysis or similar.
11. Experience conducting and participating in incident investigations.
12. Experience in Confined Space Entries and Rescue.
13. Experience in atmosperic monitoring use, maintenance, and training.
14. Knowledge of HAZMAT & Dangerous Goods transportation regulations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety policies and regulations operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work environment is approximately 50% in an industrial setting and 50% in busy office setting. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
