What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical & Training Manager position at ASSA ABLOY?
What would you do as our Technical & Training Manager
This position requires managing of technical guidance, support, recommendations and consulting with the architectural community, contractors, DSS Sales Agencies, Service Center personnel, Project Services, Customer Service, Agency Management, and sister companies as a resource for decision making, fire labeling requirements and restrictions, various federal, state, and local code interpretation, job specification interpretation, product application and design parameters.
You would also:
- Work as a consultant with building segments, sales & service groups and/or engineering groups.
- Manage multiple projects with various deadlines and time constraints.
- Apply extensive knowledge and understanding of Ceco products, their limitations, and multiple applications for end users.
- Visualize design applications and offer acceptable solutions that comply with local, state, and national code restrictions/guidelines, industry standards, life safety and fire rating restrictions.
- Understand sources of responsibility and information within Ceco, external companies and other ASSA ABLOY Group companies.
- Manage, develop and coordinate training programs and materials for conducting Ceco’s Advanced Distributor Training Class, training for Customer Service, Agency Management, DSS Sales Agency personnel and new Distributors.
- Manage and coordinate revisions, updates, edits, proofing and/or incorporating corrections and coordination with DSS Marketing at New Haven, CT and/or Ceco’s IT Dept. for the Production Order Writing Manual, Ceco’s Correspondence Course, Ceco’s public website and Distributor Website.
- Possess knowledge of products and processes, software capabilities, industry standards, test methods, order processing & engineering and hardware applications.
- Direct responsibility for supplying technical support and letters of certification to assist architects, external and internal customers, sales, and contractors.
- Compile and forward sales leads, based upon information probed and gathered from architectural contacts and contractors because of proactive telemarketing, to the respective DSS Sales Agency or Distributor.
- Troubleshoot reported technical related issues that could lead to root cause analysis and forwarding resolutions to appropriate personnel for inclusions in procedures or processes.
- Assist cross-functional teams to assure complete product introduction and implementation of product and processes that would cross various departmental boundaries.
- Schedule and introduce presentations by internal or outside lecturers, and sales or product specialists from other related industries.
- Stay abreast of all new product introductions or tests conducted, their applications and intended use and functionality to train others on these products, or supply technical support related to these products.
- Liaison with the labeling agencies (UL, Intertek/Warnock Hersey, Factory Mutual, British Standards BS 476 Part 22)
- Responsible for labeling compliance for fire, bullet, hurricane & tornado products, and engineering evaluation projects for fire & bullet.
- Submit authorization documentation to UL & Intertek/Warnock Hersey allowing distributor/customers, new AA Service Centers, and International ASSA ABLOY companies to have Ceco’s labeling procedures.
- Coordinate job site specific letters with UL or Intertek/Warnock Hersey
- Manage/coordinate fire & bullet classified label designs along with our UL Mini Label Center (including label order forms)
- UAE Certificate of Conformance documents as requested.
- Labeling agencies purchase order approval for Field Inspections, UL annual fees, UL quarterly plant inspection fees (Milan & Maltex), site specific letters, Certificate of Compliance documents.
- Manage/direct Compliance Specialist
The Skills and Experience you need:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
- 10 years related experience within Ceco’s sales, customer service, or engineering departments, required.
- Must be capable of working on multiple assignments at one time while completing them in a timely manner.
- Must work with, and convey, a sense of urgency when dealing with customers, contractors, architects, and Sales Agencies.
- Architectural Hardware Consultant/Certified Door Consultant certification, preferred.
- Previous management experience desired.
- Must possess a working knowledge of accepted domestic and international business practices.
