Electrical Engineer
B&B Roadway and Security Solutions is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our manufacturing plant that specializes in the production of security barriers. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining electrical systems, controls, and components used in our security barrier manufacturing processes. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of our manufacturing operations.
What you will be doing:
- Electrical System Design: Design and develop electrical systems and controls for security barrier manufacturing equipment, including motor drives, PLC-based control systems, sensors, and power distribution systems.
- Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers and product designers, to develop new security barrier products and improve existing ones. Ensure electrical design integration and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Circuit Design and Analysis: Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and circuit layouts. Conduct analysis, simulations, and tests to verify system performance, reliability, and compliance with design specifications.
- Control System Programming: Develop and program PLC-based control systems for security barrier manufacturing equipment, implementing automation and optimizing production processes. Ensure seamless integration with other plant systems, such as HMI interfaces and data acquisition systems.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identify and resolve electrical issues and malfunctions in manufacturing equipment, using diagnostic tools, test equipment, and your technical expertise. Develop maintenance procedures and schedules to maximize equipment uptime.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations in all aspects of the electrical design and manufacturing processes. Participate in safety assessments and implement safety measures to mitigate electrical hazards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including electrical drawings, specifications, test reports, and operational manuals. Prepare regular progress reports and contribute to project status updates.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and quality improvement in electrical systems and manufacturing processes. Implement innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, technicians, and production personnel, providing technical guidance and support throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. Foster effective communication and teamwork.
The skills and experience you need:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven experience in electrical system design and development, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and standards.
- Proficiency in electrical design software, such as AutoCAD, Solid Works or similar tools.
- Experience in programming PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems.
- Solid understanding of motor drives, sensors, power distribution, and control systems.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and regulations, such as NEC (National Electrical Code) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and components.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
