Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Executive Director of Marketing & Communications, the Design Coordinator role is critical in ensuring smooth operations within the department, coordinating closely with the Project Manager, supporting Graphic Designers, and managing administrative tasks. The Design Coordinator is expected to be well-versed in department protocols, policies, and guidelines, as well as be knowledgeable about graphic design, web design, brand strategy and campaign plans. This position requires a graduate student or a professional applicant, providing a vital link between team members and leadership. The Design Coordinator works closely with the Graphic Designers, Frontend Web Designer, Content Creation Specialists & Project Manager in their role.
Essential Job Functions
- Processes and delegates incoming Design Requests appropriately among the designers while offering constructive feedback during the design process
- Acts as a secondary resource for Graphic Designers, offering support on projects as needed
- Supports Web Designer by providing feedback and ensuring brand standards are maintained
- Works closely with the Project Manager to stay informed about ongoing projects and coordinates team efforts
- Collaborates with the Project Manager in designing the best quality products for the brand
- Serves as a point of contact for questions related to department protocols, policies, guidelines, brand strategy, and campaign plans
- Assists with administrative tasks and collaborate with the Executive Office Assistant on budget management
- Regularly checks in with the Assistant Executive Director of Marketing & Communications to provide updates and receive direction
- Supports Graphic Designers by providing feedback on graphic design projects, guiding overall adherence to brand standards, and completing design requests as assigned
- Updates and implements branding guidelines, in collaboration with the Assistant Executive Director of Marketing & Communications, to align the organization around the brand’s direction, strategic tactics, and choices that bring awareness to what the organization has to offer students
- Works strategically with the Board of Directors and executives across the organization on developing marketing campaigns and branding strategies in collaboration with the Marketing team to increase student connection and involvement
- Reinforces and implement brand standards across all projects and communications
Qualifications
- Professional with relevant experience
- Experience in marketing, communications, or a related field
- Strong understanding of graphic design principles
- Substantial knowledge and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and other graphic software
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Experience with budget planning & budget management
