Associated Students (AS) is a comprehensive campus auxiliary corporation of CSU, Chico serving thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members through myriad student programs, services and business enterprises. AS operates residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union (BMU), and the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC). Additionally, the AS offers a wide variety of services and programs such as: CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), the Child Development Lab, Adventure Outings, Operation Programs and Services (OPS), Sustainability and student government.

 

Associated Students is now hiring for the position of Adventure Outings Student Equipment Room Manager. This is a part-time, non-benefited student position that will work no more than 20 hours per week while school is in session.  The pay rate is $16.81 per hour. The schedule for this position is based upon department needs and is subject to change at any time. To be eligible for student employment, you must be enrolled at CSU, Chico and maintain at least 6 units (undergraduate student) or 4 units (graduate student) throughout the course of employment.

 Adventure Outings Equipment Room Manager

 

Job Duties

 

The Adventure Outings Equipment Room Manager works under the direct supervision of the Adventure Outings Program Coordinator to facilitate the functions of a comprehensive equipment rental program and facility. This position will work at the WREC. Duties include: 

  • Assist with managing all aspects of the Adventure Outings Equipment Room & storage space.
  • Maintain working hours between 8 AM-6 PM, Monday thru Friday (10-12 hours per week on average).
  • Attend weekly meetings with student managers and pro staff .
  • Attend weekly Adventure Outings staff meetings.
  • Assist with hiring, training and supervision of Equipment Rental staff.
  • Conduct staff meetings.
  • Administer office systems (computer inventory systems, rental software, etc.).
  • Conduct semi-annual inventory and make purchase recommendations.
  • Repair equipment as necessary (raft repair, stoves, sewing damaged tents, etc.).
  • Assist with maintaining, inspecting and overseeing vehicle and trailer fleet.
  • Special duties as assigned.

 

 Qualifications: 

  • Enrolled in at least 6 units at CSUC (Undergraduate) or 4 units (Graduate).
  • Familiarity with outdoor recreation equipment.
  • Knowledge and skills in one or more of the following program activities: rock climbing, mountaineering, whitewater rafting, kayaking, backpacking, backcountry skiing.
  • Ability to complete administrative tasks.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Approved to drive for the Associated Students.
  • Ability to undertake hard physical labor in hot/cold/dirty conditions (lifting, moving, carrying gear, etc.).
  • Highly organized & able to work independently. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with outdoor recreation equipment, including repair.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Adventure Outings Assistant Leader internship.
  • Experience planning and leading AO trips.

 

Special Requirements:

 

Currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 units (undergraduate) or 4 units (graduate student) at California State University Chico.
