Associates and Bruce L Scheiner, Attorneys for the Injured, is seeking a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our team. The Legal Assistant/Paralegal supports the Firm by preparing documents such as affidavits and legal correspondence, as well as organizing and maintaining files. The Legal Assistant/Paralegal may also file pleadings with court clerks and help prepare for trials by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as required.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Preparing legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, legal memoranda, discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses
· E-file court documents in state and federal court
· Conducting legal research
· Case management
· Scheduling and calendaring of hearings, depositions, conferences, mediations, etc. and tracking deadlines
· Assisting with other tasks as requested
A qualified candidate will possess the following:
· Associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience
· Three or more years of working experience in legal services
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
· Familiarity with legal documents and terminology.
· Excellent grammar, proofreading and organizational skills.
· Working knowledge of case management software
· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
· Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.
Must be dependable, professional, friendly, and be available to work Monday through Friday, standard office hours
