What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compensation Technology Lead position at Assurant?
Are you versatile in Workday? Assurant is currently seeking a Compensation Technology Lead who will provide leadership in the set-up, administration, and maintenance of the compensation elements in Workday. You will also support systems to enable execution of business processes and annual events and to ensure the integrity of this data. You will serve as the project leader for the Workday Compensation activities for the annual compensation cycle including the payments under company-wide incentive programs.
The role you will play at Assurant:
Global Compensation Workday Set-up, Administration & Project Management
Seek out opportunities to improve compensation data and processes by rethinking existing Compensation designs and set-up.
Keep up to date with all Workday releases, improvements, and upgrades and make recommendations accordingly. Monitor and research Community for solutions as needed.
Consistently seek for and drive process efficiencies that remove administration effort from end users.
Partner with leaders across HR and IT to design, test and implement Compensation initiatives within Workday to meet compliance and business needs of Assurant globally, while maintaining consistency and accuracy.
Serve as the project leader and SME for the Compensation set-up and administration of Workday as part of the Annual Compensation Review which includes base pay and incentive payments under enterprise-wide incentives (EEIP and STIP). Maintains the set-up of Workday Compensation based on needs defined by the Compensation team.
Serve as the SME and/or project leader for acquisitions, new locations, and changes to HCM design that impacts compensation data.
Manage testing activities for all compensation-related activities. Develop test plans, scope, scenarios and scripts. Identify and prepare testers based on needs of each project. Identify testing risks and contributes to the overall management of project and risk plans.
Workday Data Management, Maintenance, and Integrity
Maintain integrity of compensation-related data in Workday and related systems. Partner with several cross functional areas to uncover, evaluate, and resolve data quality problems, identifying root cause and making recommendations for long-term solutions.
Partner with HR operations, HR services and IT to determine and execute processes of Workday Core Compensation and Advanced Compensation.
Set-up and maintain core compensation plans, grades/grade profiles, incentive programs, allowances, period salary plans, etc. Includes adding/updating eligibility rules, target awards, currency, etc.
Identify and determine internal controls and audits of compensation related data in Workday – run various audit reports (or create in Excel from existing reports) and update data such as:
Grades/grade profiles
Job family/job family group
Management level
Incentive program enrollment (this is at the employee level)
One-time payments
Assists with the set-up new job profiles in Workday.
Compensation Data Analytics
Create/update Workday reports and dashboard designs to support Compensation and HR needs, partnering with HR Operations as appropriate.
Identify business requirements to support compensation analytics including analysis of incentive programs, pay for performance, compliance, etc.
Identify, gather and provide compensation-related information for various analysis/projects including data for pay equity studies, incentive analysis, etc. where data must be pulled from multiple sources and/or loaded to another system.
Document Compensation designs and processes and develop training/job aids as needed to enable others to effectively execute on these processes

Role Specific Qualifications
Strong expertise in Workday core compensation and advanced compensation to support set-up, administration, testing and reporting responsibilities.
3 years of experience working with Workday core compensation and advanced compensation modules.
Requires thorough understanding of planning, analysis and testing techniques. Requires ability to coordinate system testing cycle, issues tracking and resolution
Possesses in-depth knowledge and experience in project management processes, including project planning and tracking principles; project risk and issues identification, assessment, change management, and mitigation.
Familiarity with compensation foundations, terminology, and processes.
Able to adapt to a variety of project team roles, such as analyst, tester, documentation writer, trainer, team lead or mentor.
Excellent consultation and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
Excellent analytical skills including the ability to analyze a variety of data, determine validity, draw conclusions, and make recommendations, and to present such in clear, concise and easily understandable manner
