Assurant has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Financial Analyst!
The Associate Financial Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, preparing, and providing insightful explanations with regards to monthly and quarter-end earnings, forecast, and plan deliverables. This role will support Repair and Logistics (R&L) management and internal FP&A reporting for the business unit leadership teams.
This is a hybrid virtual position.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Assist with variance analysis (actual results vs. prior periods, plan, and forecast) for specific financial statement lines (e.g., revenues, COGS, expenses, net operating income) at the business unit levels
Assist with financial support to FP&A and R&L Operational management, including month/quarter-end earnings, labor, cost and margin-per-unit, and operating expense analysis
Identify and explain trends and variance drivers, key performance indicators, risks and opportunities, and providing recommendations to key members of leadership
Responsibilities involve enhancing processes and reporting, recommend and implement procedures to resolve data quality issues and ensure consistency between multiple areas and reporting systems
Assist in preparing and developing reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and an ad-hoc basis
Solid knowledge of financial statement consolidations, internal controls and reviews, financial standards, audits, US GAAP & local GAAP reconciliation, and financial variance analysis
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required – Finance or Accounting
Minimum 3 years’ experience in finance/accounting; must include income statement and balance sheet analysis
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections using an advanced level of Excel (including pivot tables), PowerPoint, and Word
Requires ability to build financial reports, quickly manipulate data, and conduct financial analysis under tight timelines
Experience identifying, evaluating, resolving financial, accounting, and data quality discrepancies
Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
Ability to collaborate with internal teams, at multiple levels and settings
Work requires strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
A team player that can work in a complex and fast-paced environment
Occasionally will have to work extended hours, weekends, and be available for business travel (if needed)
Must be committed to continuous learning and a continuous improvement culture as the business needs change
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Oracle and SQL experience a plus
