Job Summary:
To manage an Underwriting and Claims Operations team responsible for specific production functions and provide support services directly
Key Responsibilities: Underwriting, Account, Claims, Controls and Administrative Support
• Provide administrative support services to stakeholders, similar to those provided by own staff.
• Balance time somewhat evenly between the day to day management of team and direct administrative support of stakeholders.
• Help maintain team standards through supporting staff in achieving their service/quality levels and targets, as required. Reporting
• Supply accurate management information to management team and Underwriters.
• Produce ad hoc reports, presentations and marketing literature for UCO manager, Underwriters and other members of staff as requested.
• Maintain and develop key relationships with internal clients, responding to client queries in an accurate and timely fashion.
• Attend client meetings as required.
Team Management
• Line management of staff.
• Capacity management and planning – ensure effective management of workload, holiday and cover across staff.
• Manage accurate and efficient processing and handling of all designated work to SLAs where applicable.
• Review operation reports and flag issues to relevant operational managers.
• Train and mentor staff.
• Resolve issues across the team.
• Provide effective service, issue and communication management with key stakeholders.
• Conduct team meetings and support the facilitation of department meetings in tandem with the UCO Manager.
• Ensure that own staff have terms of reference setting out their responsibilities and reporting lines.
• Ensure that people are deployed and developed to anticipate and meet current and future needs.
• Work with UCO manager in support of the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of new team members.
• Encourage, motivate and manage direct reports.
• Ensure that all employees have the knowledge and the skills necessary to perform effectively in their given roles and responsibilities.
• Review employees’ performance, conduct biannual performance appraisals, and set objectives in conjunction with the UCO Manager.
• Implement and maintain a training and development program for staff.
• Identify opportunities to standardize/centralize/improve/automate processes, and drive those forward to implementation to improve efficiency of service provision
Education and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline – preferred. Skills and Abilities
• Accurate and numerate.
• Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS Office
• Communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
• Motivational skills, team worker as well as able to work on own initiative.
• Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritize.
Knowledge and Experience
• Proven administrative experience, preferably within the insurance or financial services sectors.
• Accurate, high volume date entry.
• Insurance experience advantageous.
Aptitude and Disposition
• Outcome focused, self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic.
• Professional approach to successfully interact with managers/colleagues/external suppliers.

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
