Aligned with the respective Commodity Team, adhering to purchasing strategy guidelines and savings objectives, the Commodity Buyer (Local Commodity Specialist), as directed by Superior or Commodity Team, will work with internal personnel for purchasing activities, as required by the department or business unit. The Commodity Buyer will assist in the completion and regional presentation of all Indirect Sourcing, as initially requested by internal clients. The Commodity Buyer will have direct contact with the Indirect Supply base, for the purposes of supplier management activities, alongside of the Commodity Specialist, as needed. The Commodity Buyer should have proficient knowledge of the business rules for Indirect Purchasing, to confirm and communicate initial compliance concerning sourcing activities for all purchasing thresholds (i.e. small-buys, up to under sourcing RS (recommendation sheet).
Day to day:
• Buying services rather than raw materials
• Ability to work as a procurement professional as part of a Commodity Team, representing the local level (Hub) activities with daily interface with internal clients for on-going and upcoming strategic Indirect Purchasing activities
• Coordination of pricing negotiations, aligned with the regional Commodity Specialist for Indirect Expense and CAPEX to obtain the most competitive commercial agreement
• Daily use and application of company’s purchasing applications, such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system, sourcing tool for supplier management and competitive bidding processes, etc.
• Presentation of supplier award recommendations to the Regional Sourcing Committee
• Compile and review system reports, working closely with the respective Commodity Team and/or internal client to ensure timely and proper execution of the Indirect Purchasing process
• Tracking and update of company’s eProcurement activity for related Indirect Purchasing commodity perimeter – working closely with Commodity Specialist, the corresponding suppliers and internal requestors
• Interface with company supply-base, as required, via proper communication channels, including in-person meetings, conference calls, email, etc.
• Participation in Purchasing Department projects, and other duties, as assigned signed by Indirect Purchasing leadership
