What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at Aston Carter?
Description:
• Must be able to work across and communicate effectively across all departments.
• Learn and master all necessary areas of the company’s quality system and scheduling tools.
• Develop inventory targets and collaborate with production to achieve targeted levels as outlined by Executive Management.
• Understand the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process.
• Develop and implement working metrics for Production Planner role in conjunction with collaboration with the Master Scheduler and Supervision.
• Maintain finished goods inventory at target levels to ensure high service levels, i.e. product availability.
• Monitor actual output versus the Production Plan. Identify gaps and drive solutions, including a metric on production performance to the requested production schedule.
• Analyze customer requirements in ERP system to create an optimized production schedule daily.
• Assist with scheduled production meetings by preparing a current hit list and production schedule to share with the Operations Team.
• Create daily priority lists for production cells/machines and set ups.
• Understand scheduling techniques utilizing forward scheduling, backward scheduling, level loading and constraint scheduling.
• As necessary or needed, work with Purchasing to expedite materials to avoid production interruptions.
• Responsible for all inventories, cycle counts, sales samples, standards roll and all year end reports as it pertains to inventory, production and/or purchasing under the guidance of the Master Scheduler.
• Assist with routings on any/all deviations.
• Demonstrate core values of Learn, Innovate, Integrity and Collaboration (LInC)
• Uphold quality policy and operating philosophies in all activities.
• Identify and lead improvement initiatives to improve scheduling/planning/inventory processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
The Production Planner is responsible for developing and administering the implementation, coordination, and maintenance of a production plan to support the overall business strategy providing feedback regarding the Company’s ability to achieve the production plan.
• 2-4 years of experience in a production planning/materials controls function or equivalent combination of education and experience broad manufacturing experience desired
• Proven experience as production planner
• Excellent knowledge of production planning and quality control principles
• Experience in MRP II (Manufacturing resource planning)
• Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems
