- CAD Technician / CAD Detailer
- Assist in generating steel erection and shop drawings
- Time is always of the essence in this line of work; so the candidate must be comfortable communicating professionally (verbally, in hand-written notes, and in typed messages ) with customers, engineers, contractors, material vendors, and job site foremen.
- In conjunction with effective communication, it is expected that the candidate will document all critical project information and keep these items organized appropriately for future reference.
- Strong professional communication skills.
- Knowledge of the industry & an awareness of a given project’s scope of work to communicate intelligently, knowing what to say and what not to say.
- The position involves answering phone calls and correspondence with customers, vendors, suppliers, field personnel, etc...

- On the job training will be provided by the office team on the “learn by doing” basis.
- The candidate is expected to be diverse and show an eagerness to learn new tasks.
- The candidate is expected to become proficient and increasingly independent over time.
- The candidate is expected to be creative and resourceful… Not simply identify problems; but understand the industry enough to provide responsible solutions to identified issues.
- The candidate is expected to document their “on the job training” insights / key takeaways / rules of thumb / lessons learned / etc…
- The expectation is that the selected candidate will be self-motivated and take the initiative to document their on the job training time…
- Independently creating their own reference source material for future reference.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in the steel industry is required
- CAD experience is required (3D CAD experience is a plus)
- Project management experience
- Must be able to understand and interpret structural engineering drawings
- Ability to manage pricing and delivery from vendors and fabrication shops
