Essential Responsibilities:
- Receive referrals, verify for completeness and appropriateness, and communicate with referral sources to obtain additional information as needed.
- Processes and tracks referrals and diagnostic orders.
- Keep accurate patient records and verifies insurance requirements.
- Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals keeping status and outcome of requests to promote and warrant patient care.
- Ensure complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic and current insurance information.
- Assemble information concerning patient's clinical and referral needs.
- Contact organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met.
- Schedules patients for initial specialty referral appointments.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two plus years related experience in referral processing with knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT Codes
- Excellent customer service skills, attention-to-detail.
- Ability to articulate the full referral process.
- Requires knowledge of medical and billing terminology (ICD-9/10 and CPT codes).
