Job Description:

The Cost Accountant will be an integral piece of the global cost and inventory accounting team. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining accounting and reporting procedures, resulting in an accurate and timely inventory valuation. The individual will work closely with the annual development of standard costs, inventory valuation, global inventory accounting process capital spend management, and SOX controls. The role partners with Manufacturing, Quality, and Site Operational Leaders to provide timely and reliable information for decision-making.  This role reports to the Sr. Director of Cost.

Essential Functions:

• Manufacturing Accounting
• Assist in global manufacturing close and consolidation
• Calculation and management of manufacturing variances
• Support the annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting process for Manufacturing Groups by partnering with the appropriate department and functional leaders
• Develop and implement annual standard costs to accurate value and report the organization's inventory position
• Complete monthly journal vouchers and reconciliations
• Support Corporate Accounting and Reporting activities as needed
• Assist with global cycle count process and master data for Manufacturing Finance
• Collaborate with other manufacturing departments to develop and implement new applications or modifications of the inventory, general ledger, cost centers, and cost accounting systems to assure that the integrity of the financial records is maintained and improvements are recognized and implemented.
• SOX Controls and Audits
• Monitor compliance with internal controls/SOX processes and consults with internal and external auditors.
• Support the quarterly and annual internal and external audit reviews.
• Responsible for inventory accounting and fixed asset controls.
• Fixed Assets Accounting - ensure timely and accurate capitalization of fixed assets
• Create assets in the ERP Systems (JDE & SAP)
• Manage and comply with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes for fixed assets
• Prepare asset roll forward schedule and the monthly management fixed assets report
• Project work and ad-hoc reporting as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

1. Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2. Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs & Pivot Tables)
3. 5 years of cost accounting experience in the manufacturing, pharmaceuticals or similar industry
4. Experience with balance sheet account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, etc.
5. Experience with inventory valuations (weighted average, moving average, etc.)
6. Experience with margin analysis, profit analysis, contribution margins, conversion costs, COGS, etc.
7. Proficiency within a large ERP Software (SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, NetSuite, etc.)
8. Growth mindset and motivated attitude!

Details/Additional Information:

• This position will be a hybrid role with 3 days on-site in the Somerset County, NJ office and 2 days remote.
