Astoria School District No. 1C is seeking applicants for the following position:
JOB TITLE: Office Assistant - 3.5 hours - Astoria Middle School
REPORTS TO: Site Administrator
EVALUATED BY: Site Administrator
JOB SUMMARY:
Assist office personnel/administrators in a wide variety of office/clerical and receptionist responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent as required by OAR 581-37-030, Oregon Department of Education
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and communicate effectively (both orally and in writing ) with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to exercise initiative in the follow-up with students and teachers regarding student behavior
- Possess basic knowledge of modern office methods, practices, procedures, basic computer word processing applications
- Ability to type with accuracy, operate standard office equipment such as a computer, copier, intercom, etc.
- Ability to obtain and keep a current First Aid/CPR certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform physical requirements which may include:
- Moderate degree of physical stamina
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to use a telephone, computer, and other office equipment
- Ability to make frequent trips to and from desks, counters, etc. as well as other areas in the school building
- Supervises student in informal settings and formal settings
- Trains and manages student workers and volunteers
- Establish and maintain accurate record systems
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, administrators, co-workers, supervisors, and the public
- Maintain a high level of organization according to recognized and/or directed practices to ensure immediate access to information and resources
- Ability to learn how to deal with bodily fluid spills
- Acts as a mandated abuse reporter
- Performs other duties as assigned
POSITION BEGINS: August 2023
SALARY RANGE: $20.82 hourly
