Job Summary:
The BSA Compliance Officer is responsible for enhancing, maintaining and administrating all aspects of the Bank’s Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program. This position plans, organizes and controls the Banks day to day BSA/AML activities, and collaborates with the SVP Compliance Officer in the overall administration of these directives for the Bank. This position also participates in various committees, audits and examinations, performs duties as the BSA/OFAC Officer, coordinates staff training related to new hire and compliance, helps Compliance Committee advise Board of Directors, Senior Management and Bank personnel of emerging compliance issues and consults and guides the Bank in the establishment of controls to mitigate risk.
It is also the responsibility of the BSA Officer to collaborate with the SVP Compliance Officer to ensure that the institution is working in adherence to governmental laws and work closely with management and banking staff for obtaining the guarantee that the institutions policies are in keeping with the rules. The most important role of the BSA Compliance Officer is overseeing the everyday BSA/AML function of the bank in order to ensure that suitable procedures are being followed.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Researching, implementing, and managing the areas related to banking regulations, banking policies, public interest laws and consumer protection.
Working closely with Human Resources help to develop an annual training schedule/program and conduct annual training for all staff that covers appropriate topics including BSA.
Investigate and ensure all instances of known or suspected criminal activities are reported to FinCEN by filing a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR).
Responsible for monitoring compliance with OFAC, overseeing blocked funds, training appropriate staff.
Develop and monitor BSA/AML/OFAC/CIP risk assessment for the bank.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in business or equivalent preferred but not required.
2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Prior lending and operations experience preferred
Experience or knowledge of state and federal deposit account & lending laws; and other deposit account & lending regulations preferred.
ABA certification in BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) and AML (Anti Money Laundering) Compliance preferred.
CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or CAFP (Certified AML and Fraud Professional) certifications preferred but not required.
