Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Med/Surg Nurse to join our healthcare team. As a Med/Surg Nurse, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical unit. Responsibilities:
1. Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
- Perform thorough assessments of patients upon admission, documenting their medical history, symptoms, and vital signs.
- Monitor and evaluate patients' physical and psychological status throughout their hospital stay.
- Identify any changes in patients' conditions and promptly report them to the healthcare team.
- Assess and address patients' pain management needs and provide appropriate interventions.
2. Medication Administration and Treatment:
- Administer medications, intravenous therapy, and other treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Ensure accurate dosage calculations, safe medication administration, and proper documentation.
- Monitor patients during treatments, promptly addressing any adverse reactions or complications.
- Educate patients and their families about medications, potential side effects, and self-care practices.
3. Post-Operative Care and Wound Management:
- Provide specialized care for patients recovering from surgeries and procedures.
- Monitor surgical incisions, dressings, and drains, ensuring proper healing and preventing infection.
- Educate patients about post-operative care instructions and follow-up appointments.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to manage patients' pain, assist with ambulation, and facilitate recovery.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Communicate pertinent patient information, updates, and concerns to the healthcare team.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their preferences and concerns are communicated and addressed.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
5. Patient and Family Education:
- Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, and self-care practices.
- Provide guidance on managing symptoms, adhering to medication regimens, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
- Offer emotional support and address patients' and families' concerns compassionately.
- Provide resources and referrals to support services, community organizations, and educational materials.
6. Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

- Stay updated with best practices, research advancements, and evidence-based nursing care in the med/surg specialty.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the appropriate jurisdiction.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred; an associate degree in nursing (ADN) with relevant experience may be considered.
- Proven experience working as a Med/Surg Nurse or in a similar medical-surgical setting.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to provide compassionate care.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to a fast-paced healthcare environment.
