Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and leading AT-RISK Operations in the delivery of services related to Threat Assessment Investigations, Protection, Training, Consultation, Risk Assessment and Mitigation, and overall operational requirements in direct support of client matters. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

 

The Operations Manager is expected to provide on-site security operations, remote support, and on-call support for developing, evaluating, coordinating, and implementing security support and risk mitigation activities, specifically serving as the coordinator for planning, designing, and executing a variety of sensitive and complex tasks encompassing the entire security and threat assessment spectrum. This position will interact with local, U.S. Government, and international officials on threat issues. The position requires multiple professional skills, including familiarization with security system concepts and technical applications, behavioral-based threat assessment and management, security program management, close protective operations for low profile operations, public safety liaison, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, intelligence collection, and supervision. The Operations Manager should have a transformational mindset and is an advocate for change and innovation.

 

This role is Remote based; however, the Operations Manager must reside in either Washington DC, Northern Virginia, or the Maryland/DC Metro region of the United States, due to the potential of client assistance in the Northern Virginia/DC/Maryland region. There is no relocation assistance available for this role.

 

The Operations Manager has three Performance Evaluation Critical Elements:

 

OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT

  • Provide security, risk mitigation, investigative, protective, threat assessment, and consultation support as assigned  
  • Manage complex tasks
  • Maintain liaison with local officials and operational relationships with local client management, their security team senior managers, and on-site agency officials to address security matters or issues that affect critical aspects of the clients.
  • Coordinate and assist in the identification, review, and interpretation of information pertaining to security concerns of known or suspected threats
  • Identify key security issues and priorities and make recommendations to client management and security team senior managers on security-related risk assessments
  • Use and incorporate intelligence in work, projects, and assignments.
  • Build and develop business relationships for future AT-RISK work within their region, including grass-roots initiatives.
  • Investigative Program Duties:          
    • Perform thorough research and case investigations
    • Case management and oversight to include timely completion and delivery of reports
    • Submit timely expenses for billing and payroll
  • Protective Program Duties:
    • Conduct and oversee protective operations and assignments
    • Coordinate, plan, and provide for staffing requests of operations
    • Submit timesheets and expense reports for protective operations
    • Interact with the client as necessary to ensure customer experience and satisfaction
  • Consulting Program Duties:
    • Conduct security surveys as required
    • Consult with client on technical, administrative, and operational requirements
    • Provide bespoke training to clients
  • Coaching/Mentoring
    • Conduct training programs for internal and external customers
    • Trains and provides guidance on company tools and systems

 

COMMUNICATIONS AND CUSTOMER SUPPORT

  • Establishes and maintains productive work relationships with clients as well as internal and external partners.
  • Uses these relationships to develop/further the AT-RISK mission and objectives. Meets with clients to continually assess the effectiveness of support and/or lessons learned. Collaborate with key stakeholders to determine requirements and expand ARI’s reach.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE: EFFORTS AND WORK PRODUCT ADHERE TO POLICY, PROCEDURE, AND REQUIREMENTS   

  • Performs administrative and operational functions in compliance with policy and procedure.
  • Conducts case management, data entry and maintains records and files.
  • Diligently uses investigative case management database and report templates, and other company-identified Information Management tools and systems.
  • Attends industry-related training events, conferences, seminars, or meetings to develop expertise in threat assessment methodology and practice, investigation, and intelligence practice.
  • Safeguards and maintains sensitive and confidential information.

  

Requirements

  • Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates an ability to analyze risks, threats, and security gaps, reach conclusions and make recommendations
  • Experience in crafting and implementing policies, procedures, standards, and process documentation.
  • Strong experience in conducting physical security/risk assessments, gap analyses, security program evaluations, and associated documentation skills.
  • Displays superior judgment and commitment to the highest ethical standards
  • Communicates effectively and tactfully with client staff and company personnel
  • Shows an ability to guide workplace investigations, conduct interviews, analyze facts, and resolve conflicts
  • Demonstrates skills to interact effectively with executive security staff, company employees, clients, vendors, law enforcement, and customers
  • Displays organizational and project management skills
  • Demonstrates a professional and pleasant demeanor.
  • Familiarization with security operations and systems, administration, technology, behavioral-based threat assessment, investigation, and management.
  • Experience with personal protective details, advance planning, and security needs of principals
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and supervisory skills.
  • Possesses computer skills necessary for analyzing and assessing information, report writing, charting case progress, interdepartmental communication, and assuring records management and privacy.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills necessary for professional presentation to clients.

 

Experience Requirements

Suitable candidate must possess at least 10 years of related experience in security management, law enforcement, and investigations. LEOSA / HR 218 desired. Existing certifications from VA DCJS, DC SPO, and/or MDSP are highly desired.

 

Experience within a corporate security team is a plus.

 

General Requirements

The job may require standing, sitting, or moving for extended periods of time. Exposure to extreme environmental conditions occurs occasionally. The Operations Manager will be required to travel periodically (less than 25% of the total time of employment is anticipated).
