Summary: The Maintenance staff is responsible for the general up keeping of the plant. Examines machines to diagnose trouble, dismantles machines, replaces defective parts, reassembles machines, and makes necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Safety measures should always be the number one priority of this job.
- Correct minor electrical concerns.
- Responsible for the maintenance of plant equipments including, but is not limited to; extruders, mixers, cutters, conveyors, granulators, material handling equipment, air compressors, chillers, dicers, K-Mixer, palletizes, ribbon blenders, cooling tanks, forklifts, pallet jacks, golf carts, mills, oil heaters, fans, motors, minor electrical concerns, and overall care of the plant.
- Change screws on extruders.
- Move equipment and machinery.
- Monitor chiller operation and perform minor corrections when applicable (clean filter).
- A maintenance employee will conduct rounds of a given part of the plant. Operators and production supervisors of machinery will inform maintenance of any equipment, if any, needs repaired. These repairs, most generally, need to occur right away or before the next scheduled shift depending on the nature of repair.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as instructed by Maintenance Supervisor.
- Other tasks that are necessarily and not limited to those defined above may be performed.
- Reliable consistent attendance and the ability to perform overtime as requested.

Ability to read, write, and follow directions in accordance with job duties and responsibilities is required on all jobs. Must be able to properly use tools such as welder, cutting torch, grinder and drills. Ability to properly use cutting, tools such as utility knives. Ability to properly drive and operate, forklift, pallet jacks and golf cart.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or (GED), or five plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Skills and Abilities: May work on minor electrical and mechanical problems throughout the plant and reports major concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor, Shift Supervisor and/or Plant Manager. Must be bi-lingual.

A Maintenance employee works in a variety of environments throughout the day. They have exposure to noise (60%), dirt (50%), fumes (20%), chemicals (10%), and heat (30%). Other conditions may exist with the changing of seasons. As a Maintenance person, potential hazards include, but are not limited to: Pinch points (30%), cuts and/or lacerations (40%), burns (20%), slips and falls (15%), chemicals exposure (10%), strains (20%), and amputations (5%). While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually medium.
