POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently recruiting for a Housekeeper.The Housekeeper is responsible for performing custodial duties, cleaning, and related duties as assigned. This FULL TIME position starts at $17.00 per hour and is located in Hanover, VA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide a clean, safe and attractive indoor business environment by means of performing general janitorial and custodial duties daily to the interior and immediate exterior of the Virginia Public Safety Training Center (VPSTC)
- buildings.
- As part of the Operations Team, this position assists with facility preparation for events per schedule and as directed
- including set-up/breakdown, arranging of furniture, tables, chairs and equipment in meeting/convention spaces
- and classrooms.
- Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as assigned.
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures, to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to perform a variety of cleaning tasks including but not limited to: dusting, vacuuming, empty trash cans (individual office & building) and disposal of trash in facility dumpsters. Utilize cleaning equipment and manual labor to strip, wax, buff, and scrub floors. Routine cleaning of all windows interior and exterior including sills to maintain building/property is required. This position is designated as the custodial attendant and responsible for cleaning restrooms, restocking supplies (paper products & soap) and managing trash removal during scheduled facility events.
- Clean up of spills and toilet overflow conditions may be required as necessary.
- Ability to learn the safe application of janitorial chemicals and their proper use, including the ability to tolerate contact with a variety of cleaning products and solutions. Apply knowledge of cleaning techniques, and proper use of chemicals and solutions. Monitor inventory of janitorial supplies and communicate facility needs to the supervisor
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.
- Proven, high quality customer service (internal and external customers).
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.
- Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- Ability to learn or experience operating manual and power commercial vacuum cleaners, floor-stripping equipment, buffing equipment with attachments, and knowledge of related safety practices.
- Ability to interpret and follow directions.
- Ability to perform basic computer skills.
- Valid driver's license is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work at elevated heights up to 15 feet.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to perform manual labor.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds at times.
- Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 9:30 am – 6:30 pm.
- Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
