We are looking for a UX Director to join the Platform Experience Zone with oversight also of the Client Utilities Zone. Your job will be to lead and manage the UX teams that comprise these Zones. Platform Experience includes Forge (design system), Identity, Network Experience, Single Sign On and Front End Frameworks. Client Utilities Zone includes Insights Reporting, and Query Builder. This is a high-profile position with the opportunity to influence and impact the experience for both internal users and our customers at athenahealth. Not only does this position involve managing the designers on these teams but it also involves collaborating with leaders to drive the vision and strategy for athenahealth. This position will be located in the Boston area near athenahealth’s main headquarters. We are looking for a senior leader who: Leads proactively and energizes/empowers the design teams to do their best work. Collaborates effectively cross-functionally and takes charge to get things done. Seeks to find common ground with others to build agreement and influence strategy. Honors agreements and commitments, even when working through competing priorities. Embraces ambiguity and change, helping the workgroup adapt and remain productive. Fosters a sense of urgency in the team for reaching goals and meeting deadlines. Experience with data driven workflows as they impact front end design and ability to easily converse with engineers on technical details The Zone: The Platform Experience zone and Analytics/Reporting are part of the larger Platform Division (Interfaces, APIs, Payer). The Platform team focuses on growing the thriving healthcare ecosystem by enabling builders and innovators and sits at the core of athena’s vision. Platform Experience is the glue that holds it all together connecting platforms into integrated experiences for our internal developers, partners and customers. Job Responsibilities Manage teams comprising of 6 UX designers, and drive the hiring of open heads as they become available Proactively lead the continued maturing of UX design at athena, driving the UX initiatives as defined by the UX Executive Director Engage in strategic planning and thinking for long term initiatives Represent Platform Experience in collaboration with Product and Engineering Directors and cross company leaders and stakeholders Manage UX roadmaps and timelines to ensure on-time delivery Hold teams accountable for deliverables and meeting agreed upon OKRs Collaborate with Branding on improved product/brand integration Typical Qualifications Excellent communication skills – Ability to communicate in a variety of media (verbally, in writing, in presentations and graphically) as appropriate with audiences Expertise or extensive experience in managing visual design and information architecture skills Hiring/Resource management - Adept at estimating resources at high and low levels of resolution and managing to high performance Influence - Demonstrated skills in influencing others (not under individual's responsibility) to build consensus, resolve conflicting points of view and change others' minds Decision making - Demonstrate good judgment in decision making (whether routine, day-to-day or in exceptional circumstances) based on strong rationale Cross Functional Planning – Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and product stakeholders to integrate UX, engineering and product dependencies towards product roadmap and long term vision. Ability to foster great relationships cross-functionally.
