Overview & Essential Job Functions
Position Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for the successful operation of assigned transfer stations by ensuring sites are open and operating safely and efficiently. Effectively manages the day-to-day operations, safety and assigned Operation Supervisor. Ensures site comply with all company, county and regulatory agencies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage performance of day-to-day operations.
- Monitors tonnage inbound & outbound to ensure all sites are in compliance.
- Meets and works with all enforcement regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for the training and development skills of the workforce by providing proper guidance and coaching.
- Engaging in the interview process in order to hire the most talented and qualified personnel.
- Attend weekly staff meetings with management team.
- Determines workflow, staffing levels, equipment operations and maintenance, conducts safety training, all while fostering a work environment based on teamwork and cooperation.
- Ensure assigned transfer stations meet all Federal and State Regulations, OSHA and local requirements.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and monitors it’s repaired timely and efficiently.
- Operates heavy equipment as needed.
- Responsible to maintain and ensure the overall safety of employees, customers and visitors.
- Engage employees to create a safe, energetic work environment through feedback and recognition.
Qualifications & Environmental Demands
Required Qualifications:
- 5 to 7 year's waste industry experience.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, SWANA and other related state and federal regulations.
- Must have demonstrated leadership, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to coach and develop subordinates.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to effectively interface with general public and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the waste-recycling or transportation industries.
- Valid Commercial A/B license. Good driving record.

- Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, noise, grease, oil, hot/cold temperatures, standing on concrete & vibration continuously.
- Exposure to electrical hazards, chemicals, and uneven or slippery surfaces occasionally.
