About this role:
The Clinical Scientist role supports the clinical trials and development strategy of therapeutics that promote the scientific and clinical mission of Athira. This position will broadly support clinical trials, including clinical trial design, data analysis, statistical planning, and operations, support development programs, and mange relationships across departments and with external parties.
Responsibilities:
- Provide broad support for clinical and development programs
- Participate in the strategic development of early and late-stage clinical programs
- Support the design and development of clinical protocols and amendments
- Contribute to and coordinate the writing of investigator brochures, INDs and IND annual reports, clinical study reports and submissions, and annual regulatory filings
- Support medical monitoring for clinical studies
- Evaluate and support the interpretation of safety, pharmacology, and efficacy data from clinical studies
- Contribute to the preparation of clinical study manuscripts and presentations
- Maintain clinical and technical expertise in relevant therapeutic areas by performing reviews of the literature, and attending key scientific and technical meetings
- Provide clinical education support for internal and external parties
- Manage external contractors to achieve project goals
- Independently identify and prioritize tasks to achieve departmental and corporate goals
Requirements:
- Advanced degree (Pharm.D., Ph.D.) with 2 years of Clinical or Pharmaceutical experience
- Strong data analytical skills required
- Background in biostatistics preferred
- Strong knowledge of the drug development process preferred
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 5 years directly relevant experience may be considered
- Experience in CNS drugs is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong public presentation skills
- Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of clinical trial implementation and sponsor/site interactions for clinical trials is preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage complex projects.
- Facility with Windows OS, MS Office, and scientific software including basic statistical packages.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate to a broad range of audiences.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to advance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- This role can be performed remotely but preference is given to candidates located within Washington state due to occasional onsite requirements.
Placement in salary range is dependent upon experience, market rate and internal equity considerations.
