We are currently seeking a Material Testing Engineer for our plant located in Cudahy, WI approximately 5 miles south of Milwaukee.
This position utilizes engineering knowledge and experience to develop testing procedures, techniques, and controls to meet all technical requirements specified by the customer. A successful Materials Testing Engineer solves conventional and technical problems with minimal direction from management, assists management, other engineers and technicians in performance of their work, executes established technical policies, and works with customers and vendors.
- Provides technical direction on the proper methods, whether through specimen preparation or actual testing procedures, to ensure compliance to industry standards and customer specifications.
- Direct all the training activities of the technician workforce involved with mechanical testing, including tensile, elevated temperature tensile, creep, stress rupture, and hardness testing.
- Coordinates with operations and supply chain management in sourcing testing to outside laboratories.
- Performs all necessary software quality assurance for the mechanical testing systems.
- Using experience and knowledge to drive further improvements in quality, processing, productivity, and cost reductions.
- Shall propose, initiate, implement, and execute departmental technical procedures, policies, and work instructions. This includes all necessary safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Lead all NADCAP Materials Test Audits, including audit preparation activities, internal audits, and third-party accreditation audits.
- Develop flow, process standardization, and incorporate lean projects into the mechanical testing functional areas.
- Support other ATI Forged Products testing technical questions and testing needs, including support of outsourced technical issues.
